New York based Fortress Investment Group has recently announced a deal with Colony Capital that will see Fortress’ affiliate firms become Manager and General Partners to Colony’s CDFC funds, non-digital real estate positions and co-investment vehicles. The assets being brought under combined management are valued at close to $2.7 billion. The agreement between these two firms will see Fortress acquire a percentage of Colony’s capital accounts position in non-digital real estate. This will also include positions related to portfolios of about 40 positions covering more than a hundred properties in Europe and the United States. This deal is set to bring a total consideration of $535 million, which can be adjusted accordingly.
This agreement is a representation of a comprehensive sale of Colony’s Other Equity and Debt portfolio, which were renamed discontinued operations to fasten disposition in an attempt to accelerate Colony’s move into a digitized business. New York based Fortress Investment Group has been tasked with the responsibility of formulating a solution for Colony’s remaining OED assets in one final swoop while providing the CDCF investors with stewardship as one of the best global investment managers with a primary focus on optimizing the value of the investment.
The management at Fortress Investment Group has expressed their joy in securing this deal and is looking forward to working with new clients to optimize the value of their investments across multiple industries. According to the managing director Noah Shore, the portfolio granted to Fortress fits perfectly with its existing business model and the expertise needed to manage complex investment portfolios across various industries in different geographical locations.
Founded in 1998, Fortress Investment Group has risen to become one of the leading global asset management firms with a portfolio running into approximately $53.1billion as of March 2021.
