Today, Fortress Investment Group LLC is a leader in the investment management sector. The company was established in 1998 and currently has affiliate offices in strategic locations worldwide. However, their main office still oversees the global operation from New York. Fortress currently has more than 1800 institutional customers and private clients.
The investment group held assets worth over $54.2 billion across different investment strategies such as real estate, credit, and private equity by September 2021. To generate returns for their investors in the long term, the group is always focused on investment performance. The firm has hired over 197 investment professionals and 841 workers to oversee the investment plans that the company designs for its clients. Fortress Investment was founded by Wesley R. Edens, Rob Kauffman, and Randal A. Nardone and is currently managed by them.
Fortress has grown to manage assets above $44 billion through direct investments and complementary business strategies through the co-founders’ efforts. Fortress Investment Group is a publicly traded company listed on the New York Stock Exchange that acquired and managed several companies in the past. For example, Fortress Investment bought Springleaf Financial Services in 2015. Springleaf is a US-based company that offers affordable loans for borrowers with limited income or credit history that cannot qualify for traditional bank credits like car loans or mortgages.
Fortress’ Springleaf Financial Services division, which has over 500 branches across the US, currently deals with subprime consumer loans from people with different backgrounds. Apart from acquiring companies, Fortress established several affiliate firms such as Fortress Transportation and Infrastructure Investors LLC in 2011. The company manages an extensive portfolio of transportation-related service providers like railroads.
As Fortress Investment Group was growing through acquisitions to expand their operations, Fortress Transportation and Infrastructure Investors LLC stepped up to acquire other companies in the transportation industry. In 2014 Fortress Investment Group also bought the Inverness Corners retail center.
